I've slacked off with my diabetes care. It's always been in the back of my mind but I've been saying to myself "I'll start again tomorrow" and apparently I didn't! Usually I start everything over on the first of the month and if I miss that, then I start on a Monday. Well not this time. Today, I started. A Thursday and the fifth of the month - talk about a challenge! lol
I have been fortunate that my weight has not gone up, especially over the holidays. I managed to fluctuate up and down a few pounds but I ended the holiday period at the same weight I started. That's good, right? Well, it's better than gaining, that's for damn sure!
Tomorrow will be exactly nine weeks from the day I was first diagnosed and I should be able to get it reversed, as long as I stay true to my regimen. That means taking my metformin twice daily (admittedly, I have gone days, and even a week at a time, without taking it), testing my blood sugar (until today, the last one was 12/07 after a week of not doing it), eating right and exercising! That last one is going to be a doozy. I've packed a workout bag for the office, figure since the weather is so nice I should have NO excuse not to go outside and walk. And if I don't walk then I can at least use the wellness center.
Today's blood sugar reading: 117, right outta bed. Seems to be my average so I need to focus on getting that lower.
